Fandangoe Kid x 100 Women I Know: ‘FUCK TOXIC POSITIVITY!’ ART WORKSHOP
May 23 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm AEST
‘FUCK TOXIC POSITIVITY’ ART WORKSHOP
The world is becoming better equipped at responding to mental health issues and there are increasing platforms to discuss this honestly. But, there are still cheap and frankly offensive messages thrown in our direction everyday encouraging us to ‘be positive’ to ‘smile’ and to ‘cheer up’. What if we don’t want to smile? What if we want to be real and honest and sometimes that makes us angry and ‘difficult’ feelings come to the surface that our society often deem to be unpalettable?
To be bold and own our thoughts and feelings. Let’s drop our social masks and express ourself. We believe in the release and nourishment which is cultivated through creativity and exploration. This workshop is a chance to challenge the ‘be positive’ bullshit and be real, rant, vent, unleash and be yourselves. For the people who haven’t wanted to write a novel during lockdown or learn 200 new languages and who don’t want to just ‘smile’, we hope to see you for some big, honest, no fucking bullshit chats. The workshop includes making and space to share (if you want to).
We will hold space for us to be vulnerable in a protected space. Throughout the session, we’ll offer prompts, activities and invite you to express yourself using words, collage, colour, shape and form to create your own manifesto, mantra or affirmation! Check out @fandangoekid on Instagram to get a vibe and see examples of art made in previous workshop sessions. All artistic abilities welcome – obviously!
WHEN & WHERE?
Saturday 22rd May, 12-2. Our workshop will take place on Zoom app.

Please get gathering materials, you don’t need fancy art equipment, be imaginative and look what you have around the house, anything typographic you can find to make a type driven piece about how you are surviving the lockdown.
