Kalari – Indian Martial Arts
May 8 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 pm AEST
Friday 8th May @ 9.30am (60-90 min)
Lalita Ramona Yagnik with Indian Martial Arts
Kalaripayattu (Kalari) is India’s ancient indigenous martial, meditational & medicinal tradition that evolved alongside Yoga & Ayurveda, originating from Kerala in South India. It is a complete system of body-oriented therapy with an emphasis on the expansion and development of the senses; a paradigm commonly called ‘when the body becomes all eyes’.
Kalari gives us a framework for understanding how we exist in the world and practical guidelines to harmonize ourselves with our ever-changing inner and outer environments. The asanas and forms are multidimensional, incorporating concepts of power and focus – allowing us to feel a closer connection to our ancestral animal and warrior lineages.
Experience all elements of a traditional practice. Unique flowing movements within warms ups, core strengthening and kick sequences as well as more complex postures/Mudras, evasive moves and the first form – Kalari Vandanam Salutation Vinyasa.
These can be practised until the next by incorporating them into existing exercise routines or creating new rituals to energise and strengthen the body/mind.
